Families Adopting Through Adopolis Program
Application Fee $ 500
Home Study Fee $ 1,500 (For DC residents, other states may vary)
Program fee $5,000
Training fee $ 300 (For DC residents, other states may vary)
Total Fees $7,300
Other Costs Families Must Include In Their Adoption
Additional expenses will include:

- Foreign child placing agency fee (if applicable).
- Foreign Attorney fees.
- Translation fees.
- State approval.
- FBI name check (each adult over 18 in the household).
- Central Registry (Child Abuse) clearance.
- Fee to file I-600A.
- U.S. passport fee.
- U.S. Certificate of Citizenship Filing Fee.
- Court filing fee for validation of international adoption.
- Fee for your child’s new birth certificate after validation.
- Fee to register the child with the Embassy in the U.S. (Eastern European countries).
- Post-placement reports (3).
- Countries requiring post-placement reports to be completed by a social worker after 6 months post-placement period.
- DNA test of birth mother and child (Guatemala only).
- Document verification and legalization fees (dependent on the country).
- Cost to travel to the other country.
- Cost of birth, marriage, divorce and death certificates.
- Physical exams.
- Visa’s to travel to the foreign country.
- Child’s visa and passport fee.
- Special medical reports c/o test on child.
- FedEx/DHL fees.
- Update documents c/o additional documents.
Annual Addendum
The District of Columbia requires that family assessments be updated annually if a placement has not occurred within one (1) year of completion of the previous family assessment or update. A $200 fee will be charged.
